EDI Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2022 Finalist
Fuse Architects are a proudly a People First practice and project that core value into everything they do, from its people to the people they work with and deliver for, the company remains committed to social value and social responsibility. Fuse Architects were born out of an amalgamation of two practices in 2019. The company is a Southwark based company formed by Penny and Dave and they came together as passionate believers in people and diversity and using this to improve the design and delivery of homes and communities in London and the Southeast.
Penny and Dave set the tone and the core values for Fuse Architects' team - Dave’s route to Architecture was not through the traditional channels. He left school at 17 with three O Levels and trained first as a draftsman and through night-school, and whilst working on site, studied Construction to enable him to get a place at university, the first person in his family to do so. After 14 years of studying and part-time work he qualified as an Architect. Penny originally from the north of England is not a trained architect but worked her way commercially through numerous companies whilst raising a family and is in an active advocate in numerous women and social enterprise groups.
Fuse Architects are passionate about putting people first and working with its team to nurture and develop. They have team players that have challenging backgrounds, have worked their way through building yards and hands-on construction and the company is proud to embrace these qualities, they not only help its team to design and build better homes but it’s also an essential part of the company's philosophy in putting people first.
Fuse Architects are a genuinely inclusive organisation where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. The team respects and values diversity in the organisation.
Fuse Architects are a down to earth, honest team that doesn’t necessarily fit the traditional architect’s mould, they don’t want to use archi or marketing speak they are committed to ensuring their passion for people is a reality for everyone who works in the team and everyone the company delivers to.
Key achievements:
A ‘people first practice’ putting people at the centre of everything they do.
The establishment of our EDI focus group that leads the company's focus on difference and inclusion, including training sessions, policies and social events.
A female-led practice that aims to unpick gender bias within and beyond our organisation
