During the last two years, b&m has worked to improve across all facets, which will enable the company to spring forward in 2022. This started during the pandemic, where b&m refocused its business plan on five objectives. These have given them clear route to improvement and growth all while delivering the exacting service the clients know them for.

Firstly, b&m rebranded. The clients and peers have responded positively to the rebrand and have seen increased interest in the company's other services since it launched.

b&m continue to develop its Employee Value Proposition and have further improved the staff benefits. The company have revamped working practices, offering agile working and a longer weekend, providing better work life balance for everyone, from day one of joining. All staff are actively engaged in the business’ development, being part of committees and consulted with on any major changes. b&m continue to offer training and education opportunities to all staff, no matter their seniority. The company currently have two apprentices who are undertaking their degrees in Quantity Surveying, two have just become MRICS chartered and two have just completed a Masters in Quantity Surveying, all sponsored by the business. b&m was recognised for its approach at the National SME Awards for Employer of the Year last year.

b&m actively worked to minimise its impact on the environment and put structures in place over the last 12 months to aid its journey to becoming net zero. The company is ISO14001 accredited, signed up to the SME Climate Hub, started on a process to establish its baseline carbon outputs and set targets to reduce consumption which will reduce carbon emissions.

b&m is also reaching for B-Corporation accreditation. This would enable them to confirm that the company is a business that is ethical, sustainable and a good employer and that they commit to continuing to be so.
