Modus Construction Consultants is an independent, chartered quantity surveying practice of 10 based in Kent. They specialise in providing six key services to the construction industry across Kent, Surrey and Sussex, including Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, Employer’s Agent, Project Coordination, Monitoring Surveying and Contractors Bills of Quantities. Offering this comprehensive list of services means clients can benefit from a complete package for their project, ultimately offering better value for money and improved risk management.

Since inception in 2014, Modus has grown in both, staffing levels and turnover. As a result of the company's training programme, its employees benefit from promotions and career progression as their experience grows. So far, Modus has supported and funded 3 employees through their complete degrees, with another 2 currently studying and a trainee who will begin their studies in September 2022.

Generally, Modus’ employees have enjoyed pay increases of approximately 15% to 30% year-on-year, way over the national average of 3.4%. Modus holds regular team events and corporate hospitality is shared between all members of staff. Between Christmas and New Year, the office remains closed, and all employees benefit from a Christmas bonus gifted from the company.

Over the last year, Modus has made an active effort to work alongside its Apprenticeship providers, UCEM (University College of Estate Management), to promote their apprenticeship scheme.

Modus recognises the business benefits and opportunities of having a diverse community of staff who value one another and realise the contribution they can make to achieving Modus' vision. This is to continuously deliver an outstanding service and sound commercial advice to clients by a well-trained and motivated team of professionals.

Modus has been recognised through several platforms during the last year thanks to investment in its team including winning ‘Employer of the Year’ in the 2021 Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) and winning ‘Best Construction Apprentice’ in the 2021 South East Construction Awards. Both of which were noted by local MP Helen Whatley and Modus were fortunate enough to receive a congratulation letter from her from the House of Commons.

Key achievements:

  • The company's people are at the heart of everything they do at Modus. As a result of training opportunities and development, as its staff have become more experienced, Modus has been successfully appointed on a number of large-scale public-sector frameworks.
  • In 2021, Modus worked collaboratively with its apprenticeship provider, UCEM (University College of Estate Management) to promote apprenticeship pathways into the industry.
